Hot rod-  An automobile that has been rebuilt or modified to increase its speed, acceleration, and overall performance.

I have a 1969 camaro that I have been working on alot the past few months so I thought I would share some pics and info about it.

Hmm where to start?  Well the last time I ran it at the track was a little over a year ago.  The nitrous breathing 383 stroker ran a 11.50 at 118 mph.  Not too bad on drag radials and a stock 350 trans.  So, since then I had the transmission rebuilt with much stronger race ready parts.  I also replaced the old steering box with one that has a closer ratio which was much needed.  I replaced the older nascar style aluminum radiator with a new larger one with built in dual fans.  The radiator is by far the biggest improvement.  I could barely make it through town without it overheating and now it stays a constant cool 180 degrees in stop and go traffic.  I have new Budnik 18″ rims which are also wider than the old 17″ torque thrust.  I have been experiencing some bumpsteer with the combination of Hotchkis lowering springs and the bigger rims.  So I just upgraded the old tie rods and sleeves with a bumpsteer adjusting kit from Baer. (pictured below)

I was starting to get a pretty good oil leak out of the engine since it hasn’t been gone into in about 5 years.  I decided to go in and replace some gaskets.  I replaced the intake and valve cover gaskets.  And I also rebuilt the carb and replaced power valve gaskets which had been leaking.  That should account for it running rich lately.

As anyone with a hot rod can tell you, the most vital part of owning one is up keep!
